What is FTP?
FTP stands for File Transfer Protocol and may be helpful to you if you have multiple folders full of image files that you would like to upload for us to print. The advantage is that any size or type of file can be uploaded, as opposed to the limitation of jpegs on the online printing option on this website. Files are uploaded to a remote host (server) and are in turn downloaded to our network. If you need to send large files, be aware that your upload time could be extensive.
How does that help you?
It will enable you to send your image files to a secure storage place where we can retrieve them and produce your projects without you having to bring or deliver a CD or other storage device to the lab; instead you can send them directly from your computer to our FTP account.
In the past, the FTP process could be very technical and laborious, but today there are many services providing user-friendly interfaces and "client accounts" to keep your files from mingling with other clients' files.
Getting Started
Just email us at ftp@fototechnika.com if you would like to upload files to the ftp site. We’ll set up a file specifically for your job, and send a reply email with your user name and password. You will need to have ftp client software to access the site, but if you don’t already have "client software" for FTP, we recommend that you download FileZilla client software at filezilla-project.org. NOTE: An FTP site is not a regular website – you can't just enter the host ftp address into your internet browser to get to an ftp site; you have to use the ftp client software.
